A Voyage Through Tide and Time

On the occasion of the World Heritage Day, Kolkata Port, India’s oldest Port and the Calcutta Heritage Collective, a voluntary citizen’s initiative formed with a dream and vision to Respect Restore and Reuse of inheritance in Kolkata have come together to celebrate the day by an invitational Heritage Tour organised by the Kolkata Port Trust for select guests and esteemed Members of the Press. 

To introduce the rich heritage and history of Kolkata and its lifeline-the river, Kolkata Port Trust has introduced, for the first time, a Heritage Tour by land and water, named “A VOYAGE THROUGH TIDE AND TIME”.

The Port’s Heritage Tour would be inaugurated on World Heritage Day on 18th April 2018, at a function at the 100-year old Fairlie Warehouse, which showcases the Port’s Maritime Heritage Centre.

The grand inauguration shall take place in the presence of Shri Atri Bhattacharya IAS, Home Secretary, Government of West Bengal and Shri Vinit Kumar IRSEE, Chairman, Kolkata Port Trust, , to be followed   by a talk titled –“Who Owns Heritage?” by the reputed educator and heritage activist Mr. Vikramjit Singh Rooprai. Victor Banerjee, our Cause Ambassador will be there to support our initiative.
