Dover Lane Walk

Celebrating World Heritage Week, Calcutta Heritage Collective creates a unique experience with a walk through quintessential South Calcutta paras ending with a Moby's Larder Heritage Brunch at The Zs' Precinct.

In the heart of South Calcutta’s bustling culture and shopping district, Gariahat, is the quieter Dover Lane. At one end, it leads into a leafy quadrangular enclave of residences built mostly around the second quarter of the 20th century. Almost all the houses are in use: some are crumbling, others in disarray and a few obliterated, replaced by nondescript flats with no personality.

However, many are yet reasonably maintained edifices, looked after by caring owners proud of their inheritance. These honorably uphold the historic ambiance of the lane.

Art Deco is a significant feature that recurs here, along with other influences of middle-class urban Bengali architecture between the 1930s and the 1960s.

Amidst this setting is The Zs' Precinct with its Moby's Larder offering that recreates culinary experiences of Calcutta's iconic restaurants that no longer exist - Peliti, Firpo's, Maxim's, 300 Club - and the Mog cooks of that period.

An unmissable experience, curated by Calcutta Heritage Collective and The Zs’ Precinct.
